Hello Guys,
We are now at the end of week 8, only 3 weeks to go until we need to hand in the project and documentation.

Firstly, I am really happy that the network is now working and all hosts are accessible, we really need to focus on getting everything else done now. On Wednesday we will look at how the people that have completed their tasks can help those who have not.

Secondly, I have to say that I am disappointed that the first drafts of the Network and Traffic Generator were not completed. So for this coming Group Meeting please can you have the first drafts completed and e-mailed to me, so that I can tidy them up and present them to the group.

Thirdly, Mark Nykjaer and I, have now completed the scripts to access the switch via ssh from the Nagios server. I still need to look into the event handler executing the scripts but I will be doing that over the weekend. Mark has also gotten Nagios to monitor the bandwidth on the interfaces and report back.

Lastly, Andnej we really need the information you have collected about Nbar and how we should implement it. This is the last bit of the project and the most vital.

Thank you

Mark Houston

Sunday 20 February 2011

Hey folks,
We are just about to start week 7, As discussed in the group meeting
on Wednesday I would like everyone to demo the work that they have
completed so far. So we will need to set up the network and servers.
Hopefully in doing this we will see how far everyone gotten and iron
out any issues that have occurred in the tasks. If we could maybe meet
at 9am as getting everything working may take a while.

Tasks that should be completed or mostly complete are :
Network Topology
Server Farm
Traffic Generator

Incomplete tasks are :
TCL scripting
Network Monitor
Documentation

The Network Monitor is coming along Mark and I (mainly Mark) have
gotten it to monitor the server farm services and request information
from a Switch using SNMP, sadly it's not the info that we need. Mark
also got the Event handler to work for restarting the Server Farm
services.
The Documentation needs to be started as well, as the project really
hinges on that. I will be looking for first drafts for the completed
tasks to be completed by the group meeting in week 8, the reason for
the early first drafts is so that we can read over and discuss as a
group.
If you have any questions or worries please e-mail or catch me at uni.

Thank you
Mark Houston

network configuration

Today M. Cichonski and T. Warzybok finally manage to setup our network. After consultation with Robert Ludwiniak we decide not to use vlan's.
We used EIGRP to make connection between hosts
Another thing what we have to do is access list, but first we have to discuss what access every host need.
